Do you have a gas boiler that is located on an internal wall? If so you may have a 'concealed flue'. Whilst concealed flues are safe, they do require special consideration when you have your boiler serviced, this usually means having special access points in your ceiling or the flue's ductwork. If you think you have a concealed flue and would like to know more, please contact your Portfolio Manager or see further information below.

If you have a boiler which is situated on an internal wall, the flue (the pipes/tubes that carry the burnt gases out of the boiler to the outside) may pass through your ceiling void or other concealed areas.
A CO alarm should help detect any potential problems with a concealed flue and act as an early warning for you to take action.Whilst we do strongly recommend the installation of an alarm, you should not see this as an alternative to the annual servicing and checks which are also essential.
Carbon monoxide (CO)
If you do not carefully maintain and manage your gas and solid fuel appliances they can pose a significant threat to your safety. Carbon Monoxide is a potentially lethal gas emitted by gas and solid fuel appliances such as boilers or fires. It is odourless, colourless and tasteless which makes it very difficult to detect. On average there are over 200 reported casualty admissions and one person dies every week as a result of carbon monoxide poisoning, highlighting the importance of detecting the build up of potentially fatal emissions at an early stage to enable preventative action to be taken.
Carbon Monoxide Alarms
Should you wish to purchase a Carbon Monoxide Alarm, Invicta Telecare, a partner of Circle Anglia can help. Invicta Telecare supply a battery powered CO detector that sounds an immediate audible alert. It also transmits a signal (via an alarm unit connected to your phone) to their 24 hour monitoring centre. Invicta’s trained staff will contact you or a key holder to warn you about the danger and contact Transco who will check your gas appliances.
